The Ohio Statehouse, located in Columbus, was built in 1856 mostly with incarcerated help.  The gutter around the Capitol rotunda is made of cast iron, and every six-foot section weighs 800 pounds.  Over the years, the gutter had settled to the extent that the water could not get to the drains.

Consultant Bob Kohler (31 years) worked with the state architect and made a prototype out of a piece of cast-iron pipe.  In September of 2006 over 100 buckets of Belzona 4141 (Magma Build) were used to restore the pitch in the in the gutter.  Next Belzona 3111 (Flexible Membrane) was used to encapsulate the entire gutter so there would be no further degradation of the architectural feature.

The other option for this project was replacement of the gutter system.  Nothing was found that would complement the facility like the Belzona solution.
